I am a PhD candidate in the Media, Art and Text (MATX) program at Virginia Commonwealth University. MATX is an interdisciplinary PhD program co-sponsored by VCU's Department of English, School of the Arts and School of Mass Communications.

My research incorporates media theory, textual theory, art history and neurophilosophy all under the dynamic and transgressive term popular culture. By examining websites that seek to create aesthetic community experiences through emotions and/or emotional experiences, I hope to explore the changing shape and function of our constructions of self and subseqent identity in both coded and haptic space.
